We see it happen every single day in Nigeria - i mean, these days, a celebrity cannot acquire the minutest asset or rather, in most cases, 'liability' without showing them off on social media. I think gone were the days when that used to be the work of the paparazzi's right? Do you really think it is appropiate for our so called 'public figures' to show off items like cash (amongst other things) all in the bid of 'celebrating' how successful they are? What are your thoughts on the recent trend? I'd love to have your opinion on this matter.
To say the least, the ones i personally found outrageous and offensive is that of a lavished life style by a political office holder and for Christ sakes, ARMS!
Do you think it is okay for these celebrities to act this way? What message do you think they intend passing by doing so? What impact do you think pop culture and show biz (in relation to this trend) is having to the 'now' generation? Do share your thoughts!
Love,
SolaDunn.
i honestly think its stupid, inappropriate, childish and it also goes to show that poverty is really a thing of the mind, they still have poverty mentality..i'm yet to come across jay z, sound sultan, beyonce flaunting shopping bags..I mean what are u really trying to prove..u hire an entourage to take shots of u while shopping! comon! how stupid can it get.
ReplyDeleteI think its uncalled for. The bundles of money look stupid lol... as in. But the last set of pictures are just showing a man sitting and pointing... no showning off there
ReplyDeleteSolA pls let's not blame them. They were all deprived of this luxuries while growing up. This is hoW u know someone that had a tough upbringing. When the finally break even the feel the strong urgE to ScrEam to the whole world the have finally arrived. Run a check on the background of all of them and u will see the are have similiar stories growing up. Am not hating, can afford all this and morE, just simply starting the obvious.
ReplyDeleteI don't think there is any thing wrong wit it! Even celebs outside the country do it then! What u shld knw is that this people hv never seen or gotten what they now hv! So when it stops getting into their head or when they get used to them, they will stop! Its a typical example of how u knw pple who hv never seen soo much wealth or things like this in their life! But that pastors own, no be him post am ohhh!!! It's obviously someone on the plane wit him! I doubt if he wld intentional want to throw that on pples's faces! But nothing is impossible. Gnite ohhh!
ReplyDeleteBt why would yu even include a man of God in this na...may God forgive you!
ReplyDeleteIs a man of God not a man? Smh!! God is indeed very patient.
ReplyDeleteSoladunn I advice you to remove Oyedepo's picture. That picture wasn't a show off.
ReplyDeleteExactly!!!
Deleteshut up Nancy. so what is it? is it because hes a man of God? then he should act like one. why is he showing us those pictures? as for celebs. allow them ,their money, they lives. if they dont invest, their biz. secondly that one buys expensive stuff doesnt mean they dont invest. some ppl earn enough to do both: splurge and invest
DeleteSola even intl celebs show-off too..stop acting like its only Naija celebs that like showing off..Before u posted the chanel perfume bottle bag, RiRi had already posted it on her instagram page,so its a show off and other intl celebs does that too..so many people that insulted chika ike and other celebs does the same thing too, their Bfs buys them new bag "Gift from my Booboo"they show it on their BBM,they buy new car and they post it on fbk and other social media..who is deceiving who abeg free them Biko
ReplyDeleteI see absolutely nothing wrong with em showing of what they ve. I mean na dia hustle, so they should show it if they so pls. But d display of money, is so not right.
ReplyDeleteSola that picture of Bishop Oyedepo was defintely not a show off, it was taken by someone and put up by people. I have lost all respect for u. You should have done ur research first to confirm whether or not d picture fit d bill
ReplyDeleteSo you mean he wasn't aware if the picture being taken? You are castigating Sola because she did a real and very necessary post? Well I don't think she'd need your respect anyway cos you seem to be a shallow person... Lets just call a spade a spade...these ostentatious lifestyles hurt people who look up to them
Deletewhat can i say, like they say, if u've got it...flaunt it lol.
ReplyDeletewhat can i say, its there money so let them flaunt it. smh.
ReplyDeleteIt's all different types of wrong...I think it stems from inferiority complex...they are (1) adults (2) celebrities (3) role models (to some people) it's really very offensive, pathetic, embarrassing, cheesy, tacky and childish... They are wanna-bes cos those that really have don't show off
ReplyDeletePS: David Oyedepo did not go out of his way to upload that picture.. But that aside I think its all shades of tacky..
