Dress for your body and not your age this season!

Most stores organize dresses by silhouette (long sleeve, knee length, strapless) or occasion (cocktail, casual, the not-always-true "day to night" category). But cataloguing dresses based on the body type they flatter—while it would probably be the most helpful method—doesn't seem to exist. We find this frustrating, and imagine we're not alone. (Unless people actually like the experience of ogling an amazingly lovely dress, only to register that it just won't suit their shape?

1.

.

If you're small-chested...

...choose a ruffled or tiered neckline. The extra fabric will add a cup size. (Or something like that. It's not an exact science.)

2.

If you're athletic or boyish...

...look for asymmetrical cuts or ruched details, which instantly create curves.

3.

If you're apple shaped...

...opt for a dress with a loose torso and an eye-catching skirt. It'll hide your tummy while highlighting a slimmer lower half.

4.

If you're pear-shaped...

...find this pairing: V neck top + full skirted bottom. The V shape draws the eye to your natural waist instead of wider hips, while the full skirt helps camouflage big hips and bottoms.

5.

If you're busty...

...choose a neckline that offers coverage and bra-wearing capability but isn't too low or too high. Too much fabric up top will only enhance the size of your bust.

6.

If you're top-heavy...

...let the prints do the work for you. A dress like this (with wider, bigger shapes on the bottom) brings attention to the bottom half.
7.

If you're petite...

...pick a solid, body-skimming dress. Uniform color gives smaller figures a columnar, elongated appearance, while the sleek silhouette keeps a tiny frame from looking swamped in fabric.

So go on and look dangerously sexy for your man (or yourself - lol) this season ladies. Have fun! lol!
