Genevieve Nnaji's AMVCA fashion through the years!

Ok guys, i'v been dying to weigh in on the fashion from the just concluded AMVCA held 2 days back so how about we take them one after the other. Without a doubt, actress Genevieve Nnaji is one person a lot of us itched endlessly to see considering her red carpet history from the event but unfortunately (for me), i found her choice a bit underwhelming.

Ofcos she looked great in the marigold tone and the mermaid silhouette sat well on her svelte physic. I also give it to her for supporting a designer we're not so used to on the red carpet 'Elvira Jude' however, the look was just too safe, predictable and forgettable. ‎There  was no wow factor to her look and i didn't like her hair. I expected so much more because she's raised the bar so high for 2 consecutive years now.

Let's checkout her AMVCA red carpet history.

In 2013, for the maiden edition of the award, Genevieve made literally every jaw drop in a Bridget Awosika silk white dress. The plunging neckline was a total contrast to the actress' conservative style and till this day, tongues are still wagging. ‎She bagged one of my best dressed for the night for keeping it sexy, tasteful and sophisticated. Biggest risk she's ever taken in fashion.

For a second look on the same night, Genny slipped into a bright yellow dress by April by Kunbi‎. Not too bad for a second dress.

2014 was another winner. She was flawless in Jewel By Lisa. Genny stood out in a print cutout dress with woven overlay - simple yet a very creative dress with details you just can't over look. Her hair and makeup was absolutely impeccable.

2015, Genny in Elvira Jude.  Definitely not worst dressed but ofcos, I wouldn't put her in my best dressed neither.

  2. I don't agree with u on this one o soladunn. this years genevives outfit beat all the years . she was too sophisticated. the hair the clutch and the gown sat too well on her. she exuded confidence and sexiness too. .

pls let's always try to celebrate our culture of modesty. we mustn't loose our heritage to the standards of western fashion industry.

  4. Oh puleeeze. This is not about decency. We are talking fashion here. Thank you Sola for being objective. I have been waiting for your review. I think a lot of ppl love stars blindly which is why I found some blogs listing her as best dressed for the night. Needless to say I was in shock. Cos I watched from beginning to the end. I love my stars and yes my stars can do wrong in my eyes be it in fashion, speech etc. I wont love them any less.Did you see Osas Ighodaro? Lamide Akintobi? Ik Ogbonna's gf (she's not a celeb), Dakore. Even Rita Dominic wore some sort of animal print dress. I have never seen anyone on animal prints at that sort of big award show, not even at the Oscars. Some people brought it! Risks and all. And all these people were decently dressed! (Assuming decency is a factor).Genevieve did not bring any game to that carpet. She wore a beautiful dress that sat well on her and that's all. Some people took risks both in cut, colour and combination. And that's what an award event fashion should be all about. Making a statement.
