Its been heating up runways, red carpets and the streets for a little bit now and its telling you its time to switch-up the classic red and sweet yumyum pink for a sumptuous orange glow. Proven to be one of the most unexpected trend this season, the orange lipstick is taking over all make-up stands worldwide. It is fun, it is sweet and mostly it is breaking the rules. Curious on how to work the sun kissed hue? not to worry, its actually quite easy........click to find out HOW
So it been seen on stylish celebrities such as scarlet johanson, Megaon fox, Kourtney Kardarshian, Heidi Klum, Charlize theron and a whole lot of others - Most recently, Jessica Alba made a huge statement with it at the 2013 Oscars where she arrived ravishing in a matching orange dress and lips.
These are all celebrities and can get away with practically anything you say? Well, hell no, absolutely anybody can work this look - from the brightest to the darkest skin tones, Its all about finding the right shade for you.
The general makeup rule of the thumb as you may know is - the lighter your skin tone, the darker the shade and vice-versa. But again, who cares, rules are meant to broken right! lol! for starts however, there are a few tips i'd like you to keep in mind when you are experimenting with this look or rather just starting off.
Keep eyes very simple. Fill in your brows, conceal, a couple of layers of mascara and that's it.
If you must do the 'eye', go super soft smokey.
Make sure you remember to line your lips
Make bronzer your friend.....this allows for an extra shiny background that allows the bright hue to pop
Start off with a lip gloss before lipstick, then apply a layer of powder then after another layer of lipstick. This will give a matte look. It also makes it stay on longer.
Touch up with a little gloss (optional)
Choose the perfect blush for your skin tone. Check out my previous post on selecting the perfect blush here 'Blush'
My personal recommendation is MAC's Neon orange (that's what i used in a picture of myself below). It is really flattering especially on dark skin.Yeah, i copied Megan Good's look (up), She looked so lovely and i wanted to do something similar - guess i tried a little hey! lol!
Well because i love to be a bit experimental atimes, especially with makeup, i made a shocking discovery, which is - mixing a gold eye shadow with a red liquid lipstick gave exactly the same shade. You might wanna try that, be careful to balance off the mixtures tho and touch up with lip-gloss.
Its a really sexy look. Its young, its fresh and super-duper easy. Stand out of the crowd and work it girls!
