Knowing your body type (women)!

Hello friends, so over the weeks i've gotten e-mails and comments on various posts pertaining to women body types. While i may not be able to reply every comments because some descriptions given are quite ambiguous,  i've decided to put together a comprehensive post on the most common women body types. Am sure by reading through, you will be able to identify which category you belong. I'll also pair each category with International and Nigerian celebrities to help you with your styling options. More when you click..........

It might interest you to know that women have a little over 23 different body types (wow, you say lol), however i will be writing extensively on the most common 6.

1. The Hour-glass shaped

Most visible features include - you are slimmest  the waist, your top and lower halves are equal. International celebrities in this category include Halle Berry, Kim Kardashian and Katherine Heigl. In Nigeria, we have Mercy Johnson, Tolu Oniru and Dencia. It is said to be the most ideal body type for all women.

2. Inverted Triangle Shaped

Most visible features include - Most likely to have fuller bust, wide shoulders, average torso and narrow hips. International celebrities in this category include Sofia Vegara, Wendy Williams and Maria Carey. In Nigeria, we have Waje, Foluke Daramola and Eniola Badmus. Check out my post on the Busty girl. Note - you are not necessarily busty however you may appear a bit athletic due to your broad shoulders.

3. Pear shaped (Triangle)

Most visible features include - Wide hips, narrow waist/shoulders and likely to have  flat or very little bust.  International celebrities in this category include Beyonce, Alicia keys and Rihanna. In Nigeria we have Omotola Jalade Ekehinde, Ini Edo and Tiwa Savage. Check out my post on the pear shaped woman.

4. Rectangle shaped

Most visible features include - mostly common to tall and lanky women. Your waist line is hardly defined and your bust/hips are equal.  With this body type, you could either be slim or plus size. International celebrities in this category include Natalie Portman, Katie Homes and Kiera Knightley. In Nigeria we have Eku Edewor, Seyi Shey and Linda ikeji. This also applies to athletic looking women like Serena Williams and Karen Igho.

5. Rounded Shaped

Most visible features include - Mostly attributed to plus sized women but not peculiar. Your bust, waistline and hips are almost equal (rounded) - your body type could also be attributed to larger arms, smaller hips and visible lower sitting stomachInternational celebrities in this category include Gabby, Mo'Nique and Melisa Mccarthy. In Nigeria, we have  Sasha, Bouqui and Jenifer Aliogu.

6. Diamond Shaped

Most visible features include - your stomach is mostly high sitting (close to your chest), long arms and legs. Sometimes attributed to small bust and wide thighs. International celebrities in this category include Viola Davis while in Nigeria we have Eniola Badmus (she however has a fuller bust).

Please note - the most important thing is to remember, you are beautiful regardless of your body type. Embrace your inner beauty and don't be in denial of yourself. Work with clothings that flatter your body and always wear a SMILE (it is the most beautiful and important curve any woman can have). Have fun!

    1. Hello dear, I can relate with ur post cuz im also struggling with tomy fat....but the reason u stated above shldnt be ur driving force. U can do several other stuffs i.e, take the stairs instead of lift, short walks, u can also try to adjust ur eating habits..u dont av to starve urself, just eat right n be disciplined, no late ngt meals n if u must snack on something after 7pm, make sure its just fruits, try to take lots of proteins.it worked for me, bt like I said indiscipline kills ur hardwork.like m all gingered up dis week, d next, im like I cant kill myself. The most important is to love urself first.no one can do for u.....best wishes dear

  8. Sorry, but u'll actually help ur readers by stating d measurements dat make up d body shapes. 4 example, d hourglass shape has broad shoulders and at least a 9 inch difference between d waist and d hips. I don't think Tolu Oniru qualifies 4 an hourglass, she's probably a pear same wif Halle Berry, dunno about Dencia and Katherine Heigl either. D hourglass shape is rare, cause it's kinda odd and only 8% of women in d whole world are hourglasses. Women body shapes can be divided in2 4 majorly- apple, pear, hourglass and ruler. Somehow all women can identify wif those 4 shapes. Try 2 educate ur readers well about their body shapes and how it affects their health
