Publc display of wealth by Nigerian celebrities - what do you really think?

We see it happen every single day in Nigeria - i mean, these days, a celebrity cannot acquire the minutest asset or rather, in most cases, 'liability' without showing them off on social media. I think gone were the days when that used to be the work of the paparazzi's right? Do you really think it is appropiate for our so called 'public figures' to show off items like cash (amongst other things) all in the bid of 'celebrating' how successful they are? What are your thoughts on the recent trend? I'd love to have your opinion on this matter.

To say the least, the ones i personally found outrageous and offensive is that of a lavished life style by a political office holder and for Christ sakes, ARMS!

Do you think it is okay for these celebrities to act this way? What message do you think they intend passing by doing so? What impact do you think pop culture and show biz (in relation to this trend) is having to the 'now' generation? Do share your thoughts!

Love,
SolaDunn.

  4. I don't think there is any thing wrong wit it! Even celebs outside the country do it then! What u shld knw is that this people hv never seen or gotten what they now hv! So when it stops getting into their head or when they get used to them, they will stop! Its a typical example of how u knw pple who hv never seen soo much wealth or things like this in their life! But that pastors own, no be him post am ohhh!!! It's obviously someone on the plane wit him! I doubt if he wld intentional want to throw that on pples's faces! But nothing is impossible. Gnite ohhh!

    1. shut up Nancy. so what is it? is it because hes a man of God? then he should act like one. why is he showing us those pictures? as for celebs. allow them ,their money, they lives. if they dont invest, their biz. secondly that one buys expensive stuff doesnt mean they dont invest. some ppl earn enough to do both: splurge and invest

    1. So you mean he wasn't aware if the picture being taken? You are castigating Sola because she did a real and very necessary post? Well I don't think she'd need your respect anyway cos you seem to be a shallow person... Lets just call a spade a spade...these ostentatious lifestyles hurt people who look up to them

  13. It's all different types of wrong...I think it stems from inferiority complex...they are (1) adults (2) celebrities (3) role models (to some people) it's really very offensive, pathetic, embarrassing, cheesy, tacky and childish... They are wanna-bes cos those that really have don't show off

  14. PS: David Oyedepo did not go out of his way to upload that picture.. But that aside I think its all shades of tacky..
